Jared Goff vs Colts Defense

Jared Goff will be the starter for the LA Rams come week one against the Indianapolis Colts. Their defense is usually stout. They aren’t as good as their offense. However, this season it seems the Colts made moves to bolster their defense. Their defense has been okay but has had their struggles every now and then.

They were ranked 22nd as in 2016 for in the NFL for total defense. On the other side of the field, the Rams were dead last in total offense. Maybe their record explains everything at 4-12 in 2016.

Well, LA is looking to change that in 2017. They are ready to write a new script.

They started this new script out by hiring a new head coach in Sean McVay. This new head coach then decided start fresh and bring in a whole new coaching staff with the exception of the special teams coach. He has brought in likes such as Wade Phillips and Aaron Kromer who have playoff and Super Bowl experience as well as victories in those areas.

Next during the draft the Rams scored well by selecting multiple offensive weapons for Goff. They even signed some in free agency and traded for a star player in Sammy Watkins. Other players included in the off-season moves are Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Gerald Everett, Josh Reynolds, and more.

These are just some of the weapons LA recruited for Goff to succeed as a winning quarterback in the league.

Additionally, they even signed Pro Bowl offensive linemen Andrew Whitworth to protect Goff’s blindside. Yes the Colts defense added players, but they have been known to struggle and the weakest link of the team. On the other hand the Rams drastically improved and even showed those signs in preseason games.

Expect the Rams to come out running the ball effectively and downhill.

Then that will lead to their passing game they did not have last season. Goff will have plenty of space to throw to his receivers in zones where linebackers are covering. He has a cannon of an arm and is a good decision maker.
