UCLA Bruins have to show they’re legit versus Hawaii

The UCLA Bruins cannot afford to let off the gas in their second game of the season.

One week removed from one of the craziest comeback in UCLA Bruins football history, Josh Rosen and company have a big game against the Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii. If Rosen can have another standout game and dominant through the air, even in the second half, then the Bruins will be in good hands.

However, this is also the kind of game that UCLA could lose if they’re not careful. Texas A&M got ahead of the Bruins in the first three quarters, jumping out to a 34 point lead. All of that coming before Rosen perfected a masterful comeback for UCLA.

The Bruins need to get on the scoreboard quick and not play catch up against Hawaii. While  this might be a lower scoring contest, the UCLA defense is going to be a major factor in this one. Specifically, whether or not they can stop the Hawaii run game will decide things throughout.

As the Los Angeles Times points out, Hawaii running back Diocemy Saint Juste has a chance to tear UCLA open. Stopping the run was a glaring issue for the Bruins against the Aggies, and the Rainbow Warriors know that heading into this match up.

For UCLA, it’s also absolutely necessary that they keep the game going on their tempo. The moment that they let Hawaii control the flow of the game is the moment that their chances of winning the football game go out the window.

It seemed that way against Texas A&M, but be mindful of the comeback that it took to dig themselves out of that hole. Rosen leading another miracle comeback wouldn’t be likely to happen, so the Bruins should look to instead show they can compete throughout.

It’ll be best for Rosen and the Bruins to take advantage of this opportunity instead of letting it slip away.
