Andrew Bogut coming to the Lakers actually offers some serious benefits.

Injury is without question the biggest concern for the Lakers regarding their newest big man in Andrew Bogut. The center has spent time with multiple teams throughout his career, winning a ring with the Golden State Warriors at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Los Angeles needs to make up a lot of ground in the regular season if it is to honestly impress any of the stars that await their pursuit next summer. Above all else, they need a veteran big man who can actually be a leader unlike what Timofey Mozgov brought to the table.

At the time of the Mozgov signing, it was clear that the previous front office of the Lakers wanted veterans who could groom the young core they had. It seemed like it might work, but they still offered Mozgov way too much money and that became a huge factor in trading him down the road to Brooklyn.

However, Bogut comes to Los Angeles on just a one year deal with it being a chance for him to re-assert himself in the NBA while at the same time seeing what he can do to put the Lakers back on the map. Right out of the gate, it’s also apparent that he’s not as big of a game changer as Los Angeles might like, but for this one season, it’s worth a shot.

Here’s three reasons the Andrew Bogut signing will pay off for the purple and gold.
