It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers don’t have a starting lineup finalized just yet .

According to a report from SB Nation, the Los Angeles Lakers do not have a finalized starting lineup. Obviously, point guard Lonzo Ball is going to be in the mix alongside Brandon Ingram, but as for the rest of things, it could pan out differently.

One of the key factors is going to be how training camp plays out. Some of the younger players could earn a spot as a starter, while injuries also may surface and dictate how all of that plays out.

Center Brook Lopez is dealing with an injury that will keep him out of the pre-season, and that could be a problem that lingers or gets worse with time. Should that be the case, a lot more playing time will be allotted to youngster Ivica Zubac and veteran Andrew Bogut.

Of all of the curious things that could take place, a battle for time as starting shooting guard will come down to Jordan Clarkson, Josh Hart, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Clarkson has to prove that he belongs, Hart will have a chip on his shoulder as the rookie in the picture, and Caldwell-Pope can hopefully earn his big one year deal.

If the Lakers can figure out a strong starting lineup, there is a possibility that they could make some noise in the Western Conference. What will be interesting to see is how the organization builds around Lonzo Ball as the focal point of the lineup.

The starting lineup is going to be focused on what weapons play best with Lonzo Ball on the floor while the depth and bench side of things might prove to be the more important part. Early last season, it was a Jordan Clarkson-led bench that inspired the Lakers to several of their first couple wins.
