24. 124. Final. 10. 13

The bad luck for the LA Chargers continued in Week 3 following a 14-point loss at home to Kansas City.

Just when you thought that Philip Rivers and company would get things together in Los Angeles, the Chargers fell flat again at home. Still without a win, Los Angeles was not able to put a stop to Kansas City in the first half, and the second half of things didn’t go much better.

Rivers threw three picks in the first half of the game, and the Chiefs never let the Chargers get into any sort of control. To add to the quarterback struggles so far this season, Rivers only managed a quarterback rating under 40 and threw for no touchdowns.

Contrary to that, the Chiefs got good play from Alex Smith. The veteran threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions, with a quarterback rating just under 130.

With the win, the Chiefs improve to 3-0 on the year while the Chargers stoop to an unfortunate 0-3. The first two weeks of the season could have gone differently if late game kicks would’ve gone through the uprights, but they can’t change that now.

One of the areas moving forward that the Chargers will have to think about the next time they play the Chiefs is how to stop running back sensation Kareem Hunt. A rookie who has emerged on the scene in the NFL, Hunt averaged 10.1 yards per carry in the game, and sealed the win on a 69-yard dash to the endzone with a few minutes remaining.

As mentioned on the television broadcast, less than two percent of teams that start 0-3 make the post-season. This is the exact opposite way that the organization hoped they would go. Everyone has to be frustrated with this being the way that they start the season.

If the Chargers are going to get anywhere near the playoffs, the losing has to stop after their 0-3 start. Next week the Chiefs will host the Redskins as they look to stay atop the AFC West while Los Angeles will host the Philadelphia Eagles.
