Los Angeles Clippers: Top five point guards in franchise history
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Clippers’ history books are relatively thin. With Opening tip-off approaching, LA Sports Hub is ranking the best Clippers at each position.
Even fans of the Los Angeles Clippers recognize that the city of Los Angeles is owned by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers were in LA far before the Clippers, and quite frankly, have a much more prestigious history. However, in recent seasons, the Clippers have dominated the battle of Los Angeles and the Lakers have been in the worst dry spell in franchise history.
However, things are likely to change this season. Los Angeles agreed to part ways with Chris Paul, agreeing to a sign and trade deal with the Houston Rockets. Although the Clippers did get a decent return out of Paul and they were able to bring back Blake Griffin, they are no longer considered to be in title contention.
Not being in title contention is up to par with the history of the organization. Dating back to the Clippers inaugural season in 1970 the franchise has only made the postseason 13 times. They have never made it past the second round of the playoffs and six of the franchise’s 13 total playoff berths have come in the last six seasons.
So, it is safe to say that the Clippers just recently became relevant. Because of this, there are not many notable guards in the franchise’s history books, instead, there are some guys that perhaps wouldn’t even crack a top ten list for the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, there have been some talented point guards in the history of the Los Angeles Clippers, and here are the top five all-time.
