2. Norm Nixon

Norm Nixon is an interesting fella. Not only does he come in as the second-best point guard in Clippers franchise history, we also cracked the Lakers top 10 point guards of all-time list. Nixon spent six seasons with the Lakers and four seasons with the Clippers, and although his ranking with the Lakers was lower despite playing more years, he has a firm argument in why he deserves the number two spot.

Nixon was a solid player throughout his ten-year career. The point guard averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. As a member of the Clippers, Nixon averaged 14.6 points, 9.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Although he only played four seasons with the Clippers, he was with the organization for six years; if it wasn’t for a torn ACL, he would have a much better case at the first spot in this list.

Nixon missed both the 1986-1987 season and the 1987-1988 season due to a torn ACL. This completely hurt his production; at the time of his return he was only able to average 6.8 points for the Clippers. Nixon became a shell of his former self.

However, in the three full seasons prior to his injury, Nixon was absolutely dominating and deserves recognition on this list. Nixon has scored the second most points for point guards in franchise history as well as having the fourth most assists. Again, with the Los Angeles Clippers, this is another case of what-if.
