The long summer is over. The NBA regular season is officially underway and the Lakers begin this year’s journey against the Clippers.

Los Angeles basketball fans are in for an interesting season. Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are dynamically different from last season. Naturally, to open the year the two city rivals will square off at the Staples Center, with the Lakers set to be the home team.

Both the Lakers and the Clippers have a changing of the guard at the point guard position. Rookie Lonzo Ball is taking over for fellow second overall pick D’Angelo Russell. As for the Clippers, they parted ways with their superstar point guard, Chris Paul, and welcomed in Patrick Beverley atop a newfound depth.

The Lakers only have two starters in the starting five from last season; Julius Randle (if he starts) and Brandon Ingram. The Clippers, on the other hand, have familiar faces in Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Austin Rivers in the starting five.

Where the Lakers are welcoming Brook Lopez, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma the Clippers are welcoming Danilo Gallinari, Lou Williams and Sam Dekker; to name a few.

The opening tipoff game is going to be intriguing as we will finally get a better feel how both of these teams will play together in a regular season atmosphere. For the Lakers, this is just one interesting matchup in a season that consists of 35 nationally televised games.

With that being said, here are the four most interesting matchups to watch for the Lakers in the 2017-18 season.
