The Los Angeles Lakers own a 3-4 record after seven games, yet the hype and speculation of potential superstar candidates continue. Flipping the script, what are some cheap trade options for LA to consider this year?

At 3-4, the Los Angeles Lakers are not in the worst situation. Although some optimistic fans expect a playoff team out of Lonzo Ball and company, it is safe to say a 3-4 start is satisfying. Los Angeles has beaten some solid teams and has shown flashes of brilliance. Of course, the holes are still there, but so is a massive ceiling with so much potential to grow.

Ball has looked good, at times, Brandon Ingram is growing into his shell and Julius Randle is efficient as always. Larry Nance Jr. is a pleasant surprise and Brook Lopez is doing Brook Lopez like things. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Hart give a good defensive look while Jordan Clarkson can score off of the bench.

Los Angeles has all the right tools, in certain places, they just do not have enough of it. The story of the 2017-18 season has been one of transition. The Lakers are expected to go out and get a star in the 2018 offseason, perhaps two, to return the franchise to its glory.

Thus, many have counted the Lakers out of making any serious noise this season. However, with the contract of Luol Deng, a blockbuster trade may be imminent. For now, let’s ignore any blockbuster trade talks and look at three cheap trade options the Lakers should pursue this season.
