Greg Monroe could be heading to Los Angeles  if these Lakers rumors come true.

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t made a major splash on the trade side of things since dealing D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets, so what would their next move be?

Given that in that trade they received a quality big man in Brook Lopez, the answer could be a deal with Phoenix. The Suns just sent their star guard in Eric Bledsoe to the Bucks, and as part of the exchange, Monroe headed to the desert.

Chances are that they won’t keep Monroe, so the bigger question is where the former Bucks big man will actually play the rest of the season and beyond that. Monroe will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer and has a $17 million price tag.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers are at odds with Luol Deng, who appears to want out of the purple and gold. He also has a high paying salary and is a player that the team could be looking to move sooner than later.

Putting together a trade package has plenty of perks when it comes to where they are at as a team. Los Angeles has plenty of movable pieces and their eyes are clearly set — well, Magic Johnson’s eyes, anyway — on the upcoming summer with the chance to make a splash with a major free agent.

With that in mind, here are three reasons why the Lakers should be all in on the idea of trading for Greg Monroe.
