LiAngelo Ball released on bail after being arrested in China and charged with shoplifting.
According to a report from ESPN, LiAngelo Ball has met bail in China and has been released for the time being. The middle Ball brother faces charges of shoplifting from a Louis Vitton store located next to the team hotel.
UCLA was in China for their season opener against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but this is the story that has taken it all by storm. Ball was not alone in being charged, as two other UCLA players were also named.
Per ESPN:
"The three players, a group that also includes freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, were questioned about allegedly stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store next to the team’s hotel in Hangzhou, where the Bruins had been staying before leaving for Shanghai on Wednesday."
The whole scenario unfolds as Lonzo Ball tries to figure out his role with the Los Angeles Lakers and LaMelo, the youngest of the three brothers, begins his homeschooling journey.
Thinking of how this might affect the family brand, LaVar Ball has yet to say anything out of character. He was asked about the arrest of his son but made it sound like it wasn’t a major issue.
Ball, Riley, and Hill all face potential jail time overseas, with sentences possibly ranging from 3-10 years for what they’re being charged with. If convicted, it would be a big blow to the family’s goal of having all three of their sons in the NBA and playing for the Lakers.
Especially if Ball is hit with the maximum penalty.
