3. OF Marcell Ozuna

Wasn’t who you thought it would be, was it? Giancarlo Stanton has been the talk of the MLB in recent weeks. With the Miami Marlins under new ownership led by Derek Jeter, Stanton and his massive contract seem to be the first pieces to part ways with. Thus, naturally, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been thrown into the Giancarlo Stanton sweepstakes.

However, Stanton is far too expensive salary and trade return wise and it is a risk that will only hurt the Dodgers in the long run. Andrew Friedman and company have learned from the Carl Crawford disaster and they likely will not make that same mistake again with a much larger and longer contract.

Thus, while the Marlins are in their flash sale, the Dodgers should inquire for Marcell Ozuna. While Ozuna definitely is not on the trade block, the Oakland Athletics reportedly inquired about him. If the price was right of course the Marlins would part ways with Ozuna and that price could be Alex Verdugo.

Dodger fans love Verdugo but the big league team simply does not need another left-handed hitting outfielder. Instead, the Dodgers would be better off adding a powerful right-handed bat like Ozuna.

Last season, Ozuna slugged 37 home runs, drove in 124 RBIs all while hitting .312 on the season; including a .305 batting average against left-handed pitching. If that does not sum up the Dodgers, who knows what will.
