MLB Free Agency: Best fits for Dodgers reliever Brandon Morrow
By Jason Reed
Los Angeles Dodgers’ reliever Brandon Morrow became a household name in the 2017 postseason. With Morrow entering MLB free agency, what teams are the best fit?
The postseason is the grandest stage of them all, the World Series the ultimate proving grounds. Although not many things went right for the Dodgers in the Fall Classic, some key bullpen arms were a consistent presence. Above all, reliever Brandon Morrow was the name most called upon out of the bullpen as he appeared in all seven World Series games.
For the most part, Morrow was lights out the entire postseason. Morrow allowed just one run in 8.1 innings of work leading up to the World Series. Although he did get hit hard in his game five appearance (which was a game he wasn’t even supposed to pitch in) his dominance was still apparent.
The hard-throwing right-hander did an excellent job at locating his fastball and changing speeds when necessary. Morrow has found this level of success all season, it just took the playoffs to shine a light. In 43.2 innings of work out of the bullpen, Morrow held a 2.08 ERA with an unbeaten 6-0 record.
Now, Morrow is at a crossroads of his career. After struggling for most of his career, Morrow now has a pretty high stock in MLB free agency. Although he can stay with the Los Angeles Dodgers and get paid a good amount for a reliever, other teams may be looking to pay him big bucks to close out games.
If anyone deserves the payday it is Brandon Morrow. Thus, here are Morrow’s best fits as the MLB free agency madness begins.
