These Lakers rumors have a ways to go, but here’s a quick look at the five best potential NBA Finals opponents.

Now that the Lakers are well underway in their final part of their latest rebuild, it’s time to consider what kind of opponents would make for a great championship series in the NBA Finals.

Former UCLA phenom Lonzo Ball joined Los Angeles over the summer with those kind of aspirations, with being better than Kobe Bryant and the eventual rookie of the year, among other things, also making the list.

Los Angeles has to first be able to prove that they can fight for a playoff spot. From there, they’ll have the tall task of still proving to everyone around them that they belong.

The chemistry is different now with D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov gone, but LA has set themselves up with a potential road block in the future via LaVar Ball.

Disregarding that for a moment, the reality is that Lonzo Ball can play and if he is able to maintain a high level on the court, the Lakers could soon be well on their way to an NBA Finals, if not multiple, in the very near future.

They’ll have to be able to go toe-to-toe with teams like the Rockets, Spurs, Warriors, and Timberwolves if they want to get through the meat of their conference, but they could very well be closer than most people realize.

With that in mind, let’s look at the five most exciting potential NBA Finals matchups.
