Dodgers: Prioritizing the Dodgers’ top five potential offseason targets
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers do not have many significant losses this offseason. However, there are still five notable offseason targets for the Boys in Blue.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were so close to winning a World Series for the first time in 29 years. For the first time since 1988, the Dodgers walked their way to the Fall Classic. LA owned the best record in baseball, and if it was not for a dry spell in September, could have broken the wins record. After advancing to the World Series with a dominant 7-1 record, LA faced the Houston Astros.
Credit to the Houston Astros, who were the better team in the series. There were multiple games the Dodgers should have won. However, resilience from the Houston offense overcame what others couldn’t: the Dodgers bullpen.
Regardless, it was an achievement to make it this far with this group of guys. Outside of Yu Darvish, there were no big trade or free agent acquisitions. Every talent was either homegrown or acquired in minor deals. Los Angeles crafted a young, title contending team by going against their usual grain of spending money.
However, at the end of the day, that still was not enough to walk away with a World Series victory. Although this same group of guys can easily return back to the World Series, LA may be looking to bolster their chances a bit.
Thus, the Dodgers could go out and add that one missing puzzle piece to a World Series victory. This begs the question, how should the Dodgers prioritize the five biggest potential targets this offseason?
