Lakers Rumors: Three reasons Kyle Kuzma is the team MVP
By Keith Rivas
The latest Lakers rumors address the good problem the team has on their hands when it comes to Kyle Kuzma.
Like we’ve been talking about, Lonzo Ball and Big Baller Brand had the headlines anywhere they went for the better part of last year’s college basketball season as well as into the summer. Now that we’ve seen what Ball can do, it’s only made what fellow rookie Kyle Kuzma has done that more impressive.
Ball is expected to pick up the pace and eventually be in the race for rookie of the year, but that seems to be a race between Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers and whoever can keep up with him — and right now, that’s only Kyle Kuzma.
Kuzma joined the Lakers when they selected him late in the first round of the 2017 draft. This was part of the compensation that Los Angeles received when they sent former point guard D’Angelo Russell and former center Timofey Mozgov to Brooklyn.
Think of what all of the teams with picks before the 27th selection could’ve had if they’d taken a chance with Kyle Kuzma. Admittedly, I was one of those people who was wondering what was going on with the Lakers when the pick was made, but now I couldn’t be happier with the way things have worked out.
And that’s only fair — Kuzma had to prove people wrong to get to where he is, anyway.
With that in mind, here are three reasons why Kyle Kuzma is the team MVP — and it’s not even close.
