Dodgers: Who has the best chance of starting in LF in 2018?
By Jason Reed
2. Cody Bellinger
Instead of going with a traditional left fielder, the Dodgers could creative and move Cody Bellinger back to the outfield to make room for veteran Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez struggled last season due to several nagging injuries. However, the veteran first baseman is likely entering 2018 completely healthy and still has a lot to offer for the Dodgers.
Bellinger is the better option for the Dodgers without a doubt. However, Gonzalez still could be a better option than those in left field. Thus, it would make more sense for Gonzalez to be in the starting lineup alongside Bellinger.
The problem in this, of course, it that this gives Bellinger an increased chance of injury. Bellinger played all three outfield spots at one point last season until he suffered an ankle injury in right field against the Detroit Tigers. Bellinger played the outfield just a handful of times after that injury.
However, a return to the outfield definitely is in the cards if nobody impresses the Dodgers during Spring Training. Right now, there is one option that is better than moving Gonzalez in the starting lineup. But all of that could change if Gonzalez proves his worth.
