The clocks hit midnight and the new year is upon us. Time for teams in Los Angeles to start making some New Year’s resolutions, and unlike the average person they need to take them seriously if they want to have a happy and healthy year.

2018 is the year to treat LA sports fans to a special year. Time to start collecting the glory that comes from championships and parades.

2018 is the year to reward the best fans in the country, the LA fans get stereotyped as aloof or uninterested but everyone knows if teams win we show up.

So for 2018 it’s time for teams to start making some resolutions and get into a winning attitude.

Los Angeles Sparks Resolution: Homecourt Advantage

The Sparks have been one of LA’s most successful franchises the last few years. The last three years, the Sparks have gone the distance against the powerhouse Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA playoffs.

Since 2015, the Sparks’ season has ended on the Lynx floor; only in 2016 did they pull out a win and in the process lifted their third WNBA title.

If both teams are healthy then there may be a third straight collision in the WNBA Finals, if the Sparks are going to prevail it would be easier if they are on their own home court.

Los Angeles Chargers Resolution: Draft a Quarterback

Phillip Rivers has been the Chargers starting quarterback for 12 seasons now it’s the only franchise he’s ever known.

He is part of the vaunted QB class of the 2004 NFL Draft, but unlike his contemporaries Eli Manning or Ben Roethlisberger he has yet to lead his team to a Super Bowl.

Now on the wrong side of 36, Rivers has only led the team to playoff appearance once since 2009. Despite a comeback season of sorts for Rivers and the team it might time for the Chargers to start looking towards the future.

With a stout defense and offensive weapons to help Rivers there is still a short window for success but someone will have to take over if Rivers can’t lead the team anymore.
