The best (and most realistic) fits for Josh Rosen in the 2018 NFL Draft
By Jason Reed
4. New York Jets — Sixth Overall Selection
Not the first team you were expecting, was it? Josh Rosen has been heavily tied to the other New York NFL team (we will get to that later) instead of the New York Jets. However, the Jets are still a viable option for Rosen to start his career and somehow could land the UCLA quarterback if the cards fell in their favor.
Quite frankly, it is going to take a miracle for Rosen to fall to the sixth overall selection. Four of the first five selections are all fits for Rosen and decrease the Jets’ chances of landing the star. However, like we saw with the Bears and Mitch Trubisky in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Jets may look to move up to land Rosen’s services.
This would not be an awful move for the Jets to make; their quarterback position is a wasteland. Josh McCown was the everyday starter for the team last year. However, at 38 years old the now free agent may be better suited to hang the cleats up.
Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty certainly are not ready for the everyday quarterback job in New York either. While the Jets could roll with either guy next season, it only puts them in position to again challenge for the number one pick in the draft.
Thus, the Jets may pull something out of their sleeve and move up for Rosen. They definitely need a quarterback and it definitely is somewhat conceivable.
