Lakers Trade Rumors: The three best scenarios for Jordan Clarkson
By Keith Rivas
Keep it local and land a quality center in the process
This works out between the two teams from Los Angeles, and it’s also another win-win scenario for all involved. Clarkson doesn’t have to relocate, just get acquainted with his new teammates and go from there. The Lakers get rid of one of their veteran deals in Corey Brewer, although they’d love for it to be Luol Deng (but that’s just not going to happen).
In return, the Clippers give up on the biggest piece of the core that they had been so determined not to relinquish in 29-year old DeAndre Jordan. The move keeps Jordan’s influence minimal in the Western Conference instead of going somewhere with a better standing like Cleveland, but it gives the Lakers hope in the process.
Working with a quality center would greatly improve the rest of what they have going, and honestly could be the key to getting the most out of Lonzo Ball in his rookie season and beyond.
Clarkson would probably be thrilled with this kind of deal, especially when you consider it a chance to reunite with Lou Williams, who he tore things up next to when both players shared purple and gold off the bench.
It’d help the Clippers possibly get over the hump, with the two remaining questions for them still being the fates of Doc Rivers and Blake Griffin.
It’s an environment that Clarkson would truly thrive in, and if the Clippers need anything right now, Clarkson could seriously be the piece to the puzzle that saves the rest of their season and makes it salvageable.
