Tyler Skaggs

Tyler Skaggs was one of the most promising arms in baseball when the Angels acquired him before the 2014 season. The Los Angeles Angels selected Skaggs in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft. A year later Skaggs was included in a trade with Patrick Corbin that landed the Angels Dan Haren.

Then, the Angels realized their mistake in trading Skaggs. Skaggs developed to be the ninth-best prospect in baseball (according to MLB Pipeline). Then, the Angels re-acquired Skaggs, alongside Hector Santiago, in a three-team trade that sent slugger Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks and Adam Eaton to the White Sox.

Skaggs career as an Angel has not taken off. The left-hander has dealt with a serious injury bug, failing to make more than 18 stars in four seasons with the Angels. He missed all of 2015 with Tommy John surgery and failed to light it up when he returned. Overall, Skaggs owns a 4.36 ERA as an Angel.

Still, the signs of greatness are there and Skaggs has filthy stuff when he is on; it all comes down to ironing out the kinks and remaining healthy.

Luckily for Angel fans, and for Skaggs, he is entering the 2018 season. Finally, fans will see that promise realized and Skaggs will give the Angels a very productive season.
