If the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t careful, they’ll have trouble with more than just one of their star rookies.

Thanks to all of the hoopla going down between LaVar Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s no wonder that concern for a split in the locker room is looming. All it will take for things to go from bad, to worse, and then to ugly is for LaVar Ball’s open floor style of criticism of the Lakers to continue.

Taking jabs at Luke Walton is one thing, but what happens when the rest of the young core gets better or they land a superstar somehow in free agency and then the commentary shifts to them? Eventually, no matter how patient the players are with the situation, they will get fed up with it.

The one that the team should be utmost concerned with before thinking of any future additions is none other than star power forward Kyle Kuzma. He’s emerged this season after being picked 27th overall out of Utah as a partial result of the D’Angelo Russell trade with Brooklyn.

Chemistry has been there so far between Ball and Kuzma, but if the elder Ball starts talking about Lonzo’s teammates in ways that are similar to what happened when Ball was still at UCLA, the Lakers will have themselves to blame for a tornado that could’ve been prevented.

It won’t shock me if as soon as the end of this season you’ll start hearing about Kyle Kuzma trade rumors. Magic Johnson is sold on Lonzo Ball, and that is going to be his downfall as team president if he doesn’t navigate the current storm carefully.

Outside of Ball, Johnson has also been outspoken and fond of Paul George from Oklahoma City. If it comes down to Kuzma or George, expect Johnson to pick the latter.
