Houston Rockets

This trade only happens with Houston if the Rockets are absolutely certain they want any sort of improved insurance for Chris Paul just in case another injury rears it’s head. Eric Gordon is a reliable and good player, but he’s tradable. Clarkson has a higher PER than Gordon, so perhaps the Rockets see this as their best move to make at or before the deadline.

San Antonio Spurs

Personally, I am a big fan of this trade. I like Jordan Clarkson’s game and it would be great for fans to see what he can really do under someone like Gregg Popovich. Luke Walton’s done what he can to make Clarkson’s production continue, but on the Spurs, Clarkson could seriously excel and shine in San Antonio. Meanwhile, Danny Green provides shooting, defense, and a veteran presence that doesn’t have to be a long-term solution for the team. But it makes them look a lot better heading into the crucial free agency period this summer.

New Orleans Pelicans

While it’s not a trade for DeMarcus Cousins like some Lakers fans think they should make a push to, this instead gets two shooting guards for the price of one. Ian Clark is as good as a rental while E’Twaun Moore could easily earn a starting spot if the Lakers decide it’s time to move on from, or at least bench, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope soon.

Dallas Mavericks

There’s been rumors of the two teams talking about swapping Nerlens Noel for Julius Randle, but that hasn’t happened yet. Above all other LA players, Clarkson has come out on top as the number one trade asset at the moment, especially because there’s been mutual interest in getting a deal done. Send him to Dallas to land Nerlens Noel and then Seth Curry as a little bit of consolation while still getting to shop Randle. It’s just smart.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies might want more than this for Tyreke Evans, but if nobody else bites on their demand, going for Jordan Clarkson won’t be a bad payoff. As for the Lakers, Evans will be an excellent addition to what they’ve got going, especially if Lonzo Ball starts to take flight and full form. Ben McLemore is a question mark for Los Angeles, but they’ll pull the trigger to save a couple million.
