Los Angeles Rams: Free agent targets to pursue this offseason
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Rams had one of the greatest turnarounds in recent memory in 2017. Now, the focus must shift to the offseason.
From 4-12 to 11-5 the Los Angeles Rams went from being in the bottom five of the NFL to NFC West Champions. New head coach Sean McVay completely changed the culture of the team along with offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. For the first time since 2003, the Rams had a record above .500.
Todd Gurley had an incredible 2000 yards from scrimmage season, Jared Goff was arguably the NFL’s most improved player (or Case Keenum, another Rams’ product) and Aaron Donald led the defense to impress a lot of people. Overall, the Rams were one of the most fun teams to watch in the NFL last season.
Ultimately, though, the Atlanta Falcons were able to capitalize on the Rams’ inexperience and bounce them from the playoffs with a 26-13 victory on Wild Card Weekend. However, the future is bright for the Rams who have one of the youngest rosters in football that will only get better as time goes on.
Ram fans are going to be spoiled in the coming years. By the time the new stadium opens, the Rams may have already won a Lombardi Trophy to bring along with them.
If they are going to win it all, they are going to need to make some key acquisitions both in the draft and in free agency. LA has done both before with great success, thus, here are four free agent targets the Rams should pursue this offseason.
