Los Angeles Rams free agent target: Tight End Austin Seferian-Jenkins

The Los Angeles Rams are very deep at receiver and will have one of the best cores with either Watkins or Landry. However, the one Achilles’ Heel of the high-flying offense in Los Angeles is at tight end. Despite drafting Gerald Everett in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Rams’ tight end core left many wanting more in 2018.

Everett was the second-string tight end for the Rams behind Tyler Higbee. Both young tight ends were healthy the entire season, yet did not do much together. Higbee caught 25 receptions for 295 yards and one touchdown while Everett caught 16 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

Thirteen tight ends last season had more yards individually than the duo had combined. While there certainly cases of tight end play, if the Rams are going all-in on offense, they are going to need to address this hole.

That is where Seferian-Jenkins comes in. Last season, the New York Jets tight end caught 50 receptions (nine more than Higbee and Everett) for 357 yards and three touchdowns.

Seferian-Jenkins is not the guy to catch 10-yard passes and break free for 40 yards, that is what is what Higbee and Everett are for. Instead, Seferian-Jenkins is a legitimate red zone threat for the Los Angeles Rams, who were 17th in the league in red zone scoring last season.
