The Los Angeles Lakers would be doing themselves a tremendous favor if they can negotiate a deal for Avery Bradley of the Detroit Pistons.

According to newer reports, the latest Lakers rumors indicate that they’ve officially offered the Pistons an Avery Bradley for Jordan Clarkson swap, with the result still to be determined.

This is actually probably one of the best things that could have happened to the Lakers, at least for now, after it appeared as though pursuing a superstar like DeMarcus Cousins or Paul George at the trade deadline just wasn’t going to happen.

In this deal, they’re able to shred Clarkson’s contract and allow him to go flourish somewhere else after they’ve repeatedly failed to value what he brings to the table with this young core. LA gets a decent player in Bradley,

The main reason we should like this potential move is also because of the fact that he’d be an excellent addition from the defensive perspective, and would give room to question how much longer Kentavious-Caldwell Pope remains the starting shooting guard.

With the bigger pieces to the young core in Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma seeming to start to figure out how to best play alongside Lonzo Ball this season, securing a quality two guard is key to them making the most of this summer and being able to attract big names in the first place.

Since Cousins is now out for the rest of the year, it’s hard to really say who exactly will end up in purple and gold over the summer, if anybody. The Lakers could end up using that money towards the young core that they have now or simply make smaller changes than anticipated.
