DeAndre Jordan has been front and center in Clippers trade rumors for weeks. With Blake Griffin now in Detroit, many are posing the question: what about DeAndre Jordan?

What about DeAndre Jordan?

Man, it must suck to be DeAndre Jordan right now. The star center was loyal to the Los Angeles Clippers when they needed him to be. Jordan had the opportunity to go play for his hometown Dallas Mavericks, make a lot of money and act as the leader of the franchise. A verbal contract was agreed upon. Jordan pulled out and opted to re-sign with the Clippers.

Now, Jordan is not in his hometown. He is not making as much money as he should, and he no longer has his star teammates. Jordan is now the face, and leader, of the Los Angeles Clippers. Something that is bound to be short-lived.

It started with Chris Paul. Paul owned a player option after last season. After multiple failed attempts in the postseason, Paul’s motives became clear. The Clippers, wanting to get something out of their star, agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets. One down, two to go.

Then, a team without their star point guard transitioned to a new era around Blake Griffin. Griffin also owned a player option, something that netted him a five-year, $171 million contract. Griffin was the face, and quite surprisingly, was leading the Clippers to playoff contention amidst injuries.

Blake Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, signaling a full rebuild mode. Two down, one to go.

Now, the guy that has been tied up in Clippers trade rumors is the last one standing. Los Angeles has already set the ball in motion; Jordan will be gone before the February 8 deadline.

So, what exactly is next for DeAndre Jordan?
