Lakers would benefit the most from LeBron James to the Warriors
By Keith Rivas
The relationship between LaVar and the Lakers might depend on it
We’ve already gotten a taste of what comments from LaVar Ball are going to be like moving forward, especially if Lonzo Ball stay in the big scheme of things for the Los Angeles Lakers. This has caused there to be some friction and tension between the elder Ball and the franchise, but hasn’t killed the possibly of co-existing entirely.
Should his son rise to the challenge and take the new-look Warriors by storm like he says he believes, it will make LaVar incredibly happy, even probably to the point of saying I told you so.
And that’s okay, let him enjoy the moment.

The more positive things that LaVar Ball has to say about the Lakers, the better. He now has a place in how free agents will view coming to Los Angeles when it’s their turn to test the market. It’s also very reasonable to suspect that if James turns down the Lakers, it will be partly — or even mostly — to avoid drama and conflict with LaVar.
Not that he’s scared of Ball or anything, but coming from the mess that Cleveland’s in right now, would he really risk joining the Lakers if the Warriors are an alternative option and have the money?
Yeah, he’ll have no problem turning that down.
If James goes somewhere besides LA or Golden State and doesn’t stay in Cleveland, things could get heated in Los Angeles between the front office and LaVar Ball. He’s been highly critical of Luke Walton, even to the point of saying the team doesn’t know how to coach and that the players don’t want to play for someone like him.
Fiery words for a rookie’s father, but he’s not afraid to speak his mind nonetheless.
This new kind of super team in Golden State would also tell us just how good Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka really are at their jobs. It’s one thing to talk the talk and say how great you’ll restore the Lakers to being.

But doing it? Count this as the ultimate test for any plans they have or had in place. This rocks the boat, and they’ll have to find a way from keeping it from sinking.
