4. Klay Thompson

Yes, Klay Thompson is ranked as the fourth-best option for the Lakers in the 2019 summer, at least in my eyes. As great as Thompson is, the potential 2019 free agency class is going to have some big players that simply would fit the Los Angeles Lakers better.

I think Thompson has benefited from playing alongside Steph Curry his entire career. While some would argue the reduced looks hurt his scoring, I would argue the opposite. We see it all the time, the better your teammates play, the better you play. Thompson can break free and have 30 point quarters, yes. I just think there are better options to bring in as the central superstar of a franchise.

That does not mean that the Lakers shouldn’t add Thompson, though. The Warriors are in a pickle in 2019, both Thompson and Kevin Durant are free agents. Obviously, the choice between the two is easy, and after taking a pay cut, Durant is owed his dues.

That is why Durant is not on this list, we believe that the Warriors will bring him back, thus not having enough room to bring back Thompson. And I think that is the common consensus throughout the league, Thompson likely sees it coming as well.

The Lakers are a reasonable destination for Thompson as well. He was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Orange County. His brother, Trayce Thompson, is a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
