Logan Forsythe – 2B

Barring any major trades, Logan Forsythe will be the starting second basemen for the Dodgers heading into Opening Day; this is a good thing.

Last offseason, the Dodgers traded José De León to Tampa Bay for Forsythe in order to add a right-handed bat to the lineup. De León was one of the Dodgers top prospects, and there was a time when the Dodgers’ decision to trade him may have been called into question.

Now, there’s no doubt in my mind; this was a great trade on both sides. The Rays needed pitching, the Dodgers needed hitting. They both got what they entered the offseason searching for.

Forsythe only hit six home runs in 2017, and it’s a stat I often find myself overlooking. He only hit six homers but one thing he did do is get on base when the team needed him to. He led the team with 69 walks last season, and he played a role in a few of the Dodgers 10 walk-offs in 2017.

Whether or not Chase Utley returns to LA, Logan Forsythe is going to make an impact at second.

Forsythe is the kind of player that can always be relied upon to get on base, or hit a sac-fly at just the right time. It’s something he did well in 2017, and there’s no reason to believe that 2018 will be any different.
