The Los Angeles Lakers trade deadline was a lot bigger than many expected. LA shocked the basketball world with their Isaiah Thomas trade.

Just a few days after reports surfaced that the Los Angeles Lakers were focusing on 2019 and may be quiet during the NBA Trade Deadline, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka actually managed to shock the basketball world.

The Los Angeles Lakers arguably had the biggest trade of the NBA Trade Deadline, acquiring former all-star point guard Isaiah Thomas from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. Along with Thomas, the Los Angeles Lakers are also acquiring Cleveland’s 2018 first round draft pick and Channing Frye.

This move was a shock for many reasons. While the Cavaliers have been tied to Clarkson, following the 2019 reports, trading him after the season seemed to be the most likely action. However, the Lakers capitalized on the Cavaliers trade frenzy (which completely changed their roster) to pull of a trade that was great, for three specific reasons.

So far, the Lakers fan base seems to be pretty pleased with the deal. Our own Keith Rivas is not too thrilled, however, the general consensus is positive.

For those that are still unsure on how they feel about the trade, I am here to sway your opinion. Here are three reasons why the Isaiah Thomas trade was the perfect trade to make during the Lakers trade deadline.
