The latest Lakers free agency rumors address why Kawhi Leonard is a terrible fit and shouldn’t be someone they pursue in the summer of 2019.

It’s nice to hear that big names in the NBA are floating in the same circle of conversations as the purple and gold again, but in the same breath, it can tend to get careless and out of hand pretty fast. Just about every summer, rumor seems to have it that the Lakers are pursuing the best free agents — nothing but the best — and then falling short ever since Kobe Bryant said his final good bye to playing professionally.

ESPN has reported that the team has become more realistic with their free agency approach, opening the doors to pursuing a true superstar in the summer of 2019 as opposed to pushing this hard for any one player this coming summer.

The top targets in that free agency class are going to be, without a doubt, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, and Jimmy Butler, in no particular order. Leonard has had his own pitfalls between himself and the Spurs organization over his rehabilitation from injury in order to return to the court.

This leaves a lot of speculation to his relationship with San Antonio, and should be an automatic red flag for any team thinking about signing or trading for him in the near future; particularly if you’re the Los Angeles Lakers.

With that beings said, here are my two reasons for why Kawhi Leonard shouldn’t be in the conversation when the end of next season comes around.
