The latest Lakers rumors should draw major concern regarding the future of Lonzo Ball staying in Los Angeles.

Just when you thought things might die down between the Lakers and LaVar Ball and company, it escalates back up. As reported by Bleacher Report, LaVar Ball has a plan in place if the Lakers choose not to sign LiAngelo or LaMelo Ball after their time in Lithuania is done.

Apparently, if Los Angeles passes on the younger Ball brothers, that will impact Lonzo’s decision to remain with the team when the time comes to re-sign him. That won’t be for some time, but it’s something the front office has to start thinking about and react to more immediately unless they want to watch a top draft pick walk away just like that.

There is a way to handle this, but it doesn’t leave the brothers happy because it has to do with drawing a line with LaVar and requires the Lakers to stand their ground when said line is crossed.

By doing nothing serious in response to comments like these from LaVar Ball only gives what he says more influence — and that has the potential to drag the team down the depths with it.

Even for those out there that saw the LaVar Ball commentary being a major issue from the beginning, this news about how it can change Lonzo Ball remaining a part of the Lakers or moving on has to be jaw dropping.

In a way, this is a good chance for Lonzo to finally step up to the plate and separate what he wants for his life from his father’s vision. But that’s assuming that the younger Ball has reached that point of maturity to where he can stand up for himself within his own family.

Would he really throw away a childhood dream to play for his hometown team just to play with his younger brothers somewhere else?

Not sure where the concern and hype for a championship went, but it’s apparent that LaVar thought this was necessary to keep the entire conversation relevant.

With these things in mind, here are three reasons the Lakers aren’t ready for this type of chaos and why it’ll lead to another top pick parting ways with Los Angeles.
