Find the successor to Phillip Rivers:

Phillip Rivers has been a model of consistency since he was drafted by the then San Diego Chargers in 2004. You can’t ask for much more out of a franchise quarterback then what the team has gotten from Rivers.

He still has a solid 2 to 3 years left in him, which is exactly why this is the year to draft his replacement. Drafting his replacement now does not mean Rivers time as the starting quarterback of this team is going to come to an end this season, or even the next.

But it does mean that the team will be prepared for life after Rivers by having a young quarterback in the pipeline, ready to take over with several years of development behind Rivers under his belt.

What makes this the perfect time to draft the future of the franchise is the uniquely deep quarterback class that is going to be available on draft day. To go along with the strong QB class, the roster is fairly strong, meaning they can afford to use a draft pick on a player that will likely not contribute right away.

Whether the team decides to use their first-round pick on a quarterback, or a later pick, that is up to the front office. Regardless of which route they decide to embark upon, they would be letting a great opportunity pass if they choose not to address the position.
