All signs are pointing to the inevitable: the Los Angeles Rams parting ways with Trumaine Johnson. Luckily for LA, there are several replacement options.

The Los Angeles Rams were fueled by the high-powered offense last season. However, the defense held its own and consistently put the Rams in a position to win. Led by Aaron Donald and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, LA allowed the 12th-fewest points per game in the NFL. Not incredible, but good enough for the offense.

Arguably the worst part of the Rams’ defense last season was the secondary. A thin cornerback unit led my Trumaine Johnson worked alongside inexperienced safeties. The Rams were not bad in the secondary, but it should be the first area addressed this offseason.

This is especially true now that Trumaine Johnson may be out the door. Johnson leaving the Los Angeles Rams has been speculated since last offseason when the team slapped a franchise tag on him. According to Jason La Canfora, Johnson will not be returning to the Rams and will instead test free agency.

This report practically guarantees that the Los Angeles Rams are going to draft a cornerback in the first or second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. With such a deep corner class, that will at least help the cause of replacing Johnson.

However, the Rams may also need to turn to free agency to help fill the void left by Johnson. Thus, here are five free agent cornerback options for LA to consider this offseason.
