The team that Brandon Ingram would build

Being compared to Kevin Durant is something that should be thrown around lightly, and Brandon Ingram knows that better than anybody. Still far off from reaching that type of a plateau in his playing career, Ingram can still be a problem on both ends of the floor.

Here’s who I think he’d pick for the All-Star game if he were a captain.

Point Guard – Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is the kind of point guard that let’s his game speak for itself. He helped deliver Cleveland their first ever NBA title alongside LeBron James, but soon thereafter chose to blaze a new trail in Boston. Irving averages nearly 25 points per game and has an All-Star game MVP under his belt from 2014.

Shooting Guard – Klay Thompson

This would be a ridiculous addition to the All-Star squad. The thought of Thompson even remotely considering Los Angeles in 2019 if they come calling when he’s a free agent would be mind-blowing as well. I feel as though Ingram and Thomspon would gel well on the court together and that chemistry would make them a terrific 1-2 punch next to Irving.

Small Forward- Brandon Ingram

Not shocking here. Ingram has some room to grow before being considered for the All-Star game, but he’s obviously going to start at his own position. There’s just a four points per game difference between him and Klay Thompson, while Ingram is already better at both rebounding and dishing out assists which is a sign of things to come.

Power Forward – Kristaps Porzingis

Assuming he hadn’t been injured and missing the All-Star game, Brandon Ingram would hypothetically have selected Kristaps Porzingis of the New York Knicks to be his power forward. The Knicks star is averaging nearly 23 points per game and would fit in very well on this scoring-oriented group.

Center – Karl-Anthony Towns

How could you not pick Karl-Anthony Towns? Clearly one of the more dominant big men in the league today, KAT has helped Minnesota get back on the map with some help from Jimmy Butler and the rest of the squad. He’s the second best scoring center voted to the ASG behind Joel Embiid of Philadelphia, but I believe Towns compliments the rest of the build of this team better than Embiid does.
