Joc Pederson

This one, well, this one is also hard for me. Despite being a die-hard Dodger fan, I have grown more distant from the players themselves and more attached to the overall results of the game. Of course, I still have my favorites that I do cheer for a bit harder when they come up big.

Joc Pederson may be my absolute favorite.

And I think it is because he filled the void that Matt Kemp left behind. Right after Kemp left, Pederson came into the league and slugged his way into the All-Star Game and a runner-up spot in the Home Run Derby. However, since then, he has not been great. The power numbers are decent, at times, but the batting average and strikeout rate are flat awful.

That lack of production, mixed with a crowded outfield, is why Pederson may end up on the move this season. Personally, I do not see what exactly the Dodgers could get out of a Pederson move. He could be packaged as a young talent alongside elite prospects to bring in a significant upgrade.

Or, he simply could be dealt for a smaller package simply to free up the roster room. If he struggles, the Dodgers can’t afford to keep him in AAA forever, they also cannot afford to waste a roster spot. Thus, for Pederson, it all banks on his performance.
