Why the Dodgers are bound to trade for Chris Archer this season
By Jason Reed
Chris Archer on the Los Angeles Dodgers has been flirted with in the past. In 2018, those speculations may finally become a reality.
Chris Archer is the trade chip that somehow finds its way back into trade rumors every single off-season and every single trade deadline. With youth, talent and team control, Archer becomes an easy target for speculation; this is not helped by the fact that he plays on the notorious penny-pinching Tampa Bay Rays,
One team that always seems to be in the mix for Archer is the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are no strangers to big trades and could always use Archer as the final stamp to a World Series win. However, this obviously has never come to fruition and the Dodgers instead opted to trade for the likes of Yu Darvish.
I don’t mean to bash Darvish, I really don’t, but we all saw how that worked out. Darvish essentially lost two games in the World Series alone (the other two Astros’ wins coming off of historically good games). Now, Darvish packed his bags for the Chicago Cubs.
This has left the Dodgers in an interesting position. The team can easily keep what they have and likely still be in prime position to win the NL West come July 31. However, knowing the Dodgers track record, they will not hesitate to go out and get a sensational talent like Archer.
Despite all of the previous speculation, 2018 looks to be the perfect year for Archer and the Dodgers to unite. Here are three reasons why that inevitably will happen this season.
