Los Angeles Rams Mock Draft: Post Marcus Peters trade edition
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Rams filled the biggest void on the roster by trading for cornerback Marcus Peters; changing the entire dynamic of our Rams mock draft.
We have done several Los Angeles Rams mock drafts since the team was defeated by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL Wild Card game. In those drafts, one need overlapped every other and was a consistent trend; the Los Angeles Rams drafted a corner. Whether it was one, or two, early or late, cornerback has obviously been a dire need for the Rams.
That, of course, is the repercussions of Trumaine Johnson likely walking away from Los Angeles this free agent period. Johnson was the team’s number one cornerback in an already thin secondary.
However, that all changed with the Marcus Peters trade. The Los Angeles Rams acquired cornerback Marcus Peters and a 2018 sixth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round pick and 2019 second-round pick.
Peters does have a concerning history of locker room problems, but the Rams still managed to get the cornerback for far less than he is worth. Peters is an elite-level corner and is arguably within the top-five in the league. Sure, the draft picks could turn into something special, but the young Rams’ core can afford to miss out on some picks.
Now, cornerback does not seem to be as big of a need for the Rams as it was a week ago. Yes, the team could still use some work in the secondary, but it is already better than it was last season.
With the new-look Rams in mind, we bring you our latest Los Angeles Rams mock draft: post Marcus Peters trade edition.
