Los Angeles Rams Mock Draft: Post Marcus Peters trade edition
By Jason Reed
With the 194th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:
With four picks in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, we are going to split the sixth round of our Rams mock draft into two different slides.
Despite the Rams trading for Marcus Peters, I think they are still going to look to add some depth at the position. While the need for another great corner is no longer there, the need for depth certainly is if they want to build a respectable core around Peters.
Jaylen Dunlap is a guy that the Rams can take in the sixth round that has a ton of upside. Being a late pick, the risk to reward ratio is huge with Dunlap.
Dunlap did not perform great at Illinois but his natural tools make him a very intriguing prospect. His six-foot-one frame will size up well against taller receivers and his estimated 4.45 40-yard dash time shows how fast he really is. With the proper coaching, Dunlap could turn into one of the biggest sleepers of the 2018 NFL Draft.
With the 195th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:
Even if the Rams do franchise tag LaMarcus Joyner they are going to have to prepare for the future. With the nature of franchise tags, LA will likely only be able to lock Joyner down for another year or two before he can walk. Thus, the Rams need to add youth behind him to cushion any losses.
Plus, as decent as rookie John Johnson was last season, LA could always use more depth in their safeties to provide different looks on defense.
Tre Flowers is a solid addition to the team out of the sixth round. Flowers is a tall, lengthy safety that can become a decent ball-hawking safety in the NFL. Flowers biggest concern is effectively tackling, especially during the transition to the NFL. That could be helped with proper strength and conditioning, but may take time and patience.
Overall, Flowers is a great option to add in nickel and dime packages and could come up with some key interceptions on deep passes as a rookie. Watch out for him in the sixth round.
