Corey Brewer potential landing spot: Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are another team right in the mix of things that suffered a serious blow to their roster. However, the Timberwolves’ loss is much more significant.

On February 23 Butler suffered a noncontact meniscus injury that will rule him out for the rest of the season. Butler was acquired by the Timberwolves this season in efforts to contend for a title around young superstars Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.

Butler’s offensive production is going to be easier to replace than his defensive efforts. Although you cannot fill the gap completely, we may see Wiggins and Towns step up similarly to how Anthony Davis has stepped up in New Orleans after DeMarcus Cousins’ injury.

Defensively, though, Butler is one of the best in the league and has played a huge role in making the Timberwolves so successful. Thus, Minnesota has every reason to be intrigued by Corey Brewer, who will at least provide some support in wake of Butler’s injury.

Brewer would likely start on the Timberwolves with Jamal Crawford providing scoring off of the bench as a sixth man. Brewer would be used in the starting lineup as the defender for the primary scorer of the opposing team. He may be no Jimmy Butler, but he is a better option than Nemanja Bjelica.
