Isaiah Crowell:

The lack of a reliable second option at running back was something that really hurt the Chargers in 2017. According to an ESPN report, the team is cognizant of this problem and is looking to add depth at the position. Crowell would be the perfect player to fill this void.

Last year, Austin Ekeler emerged as a Danny Woodhead-esque player catching passing out of the backfield. This served as the perfect complement to Melvin Gordon’s game, as he has never been particularly great out of the backfield.

All that is left to bring together the perfect backfield is a certified power back. That is where Isaiah Crowell comes in. For context on just how powerful of a runner Crowell is, check out this NFL.com  highlight clip of him running straight through the Redskins’ defense.

A trio of Gordon, the all-around back, Ekeler, the receiving back, and Crowell, the goal line change of pace back, would be similar to the dynamic trio the Eagles possessed in 2017. After trading for Jay Ajayi the Eagles had a trio of the same skill sets in Ajayi himself, Corey Clement/ Wendell Smallwood and LeGarrette Blount.

If the team makes this move, it will go a long way in bolstering an already efficient offense.
