8. Bogdan Bogdanovic

  • 11.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.3 blocks, 1.0 steals

The Sacramento Kings join the Los Angeles Lakers as the only team to have two rookies on this top ten list. However, unlike the Los Angeles Lakers, the Kings have not been able to capitalize on their two great rookies to turn into success. Granted, both the Kings’ rookies have not been good as the Lakers’, but Sacramento’s 20-45 record could be better.

Regardless, Bogdan Bogdanovic is another great rookie that, for some, has flown under the radar this year. A consistent double-digit scorer, Bogdanovic has laid the groundwork to be successful in all aspects of the NBA game. His rebounding and assists numbers are not necessarily high, however, he is showing potential in 27.6 minutes played per game.

Bogdanovic is one of the most interesting rookies on this list. At 22 years old, the Phoenix Suns selected Bogdanovic with the 27th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Bogdanovic continued to play in Europe, playing for Fenerbahce, before being traded to the Sacramento Kings during the 2016 NBA Draft. He was traded before even coming to the NBA.

Thus, the Kings held his draft rights and finally signed him to a deal prior to this season. That waited time has arguably helped Bogdanovic, who could have been rushed to the NBA and been another international failure.
