Books have always been an admirable form of entertainment, as has the game of baseball. Then, there are baseball books, books that bring fans closer to the game and closer to real life.

I love baseball books, you could even call me an enthusiast. I started reading baseball books a couple of years ago when the offseason grew long and uneventful. Those books were my way of keeping this admiration I have for the Dodgers, and the game going, especially in the quiet, winter months.

Since then, I’ve collected and read some of the best books that not only baseball has to offer, but literature in its entirety.

It’s these books that help build our appreciation for the game. They tell stories, and recount events, from perspectives we’ve never had. They teach us the history, the wrongdoings, and the victories of those who came before us.

By reading these baseball books, we are able to better understand the game we’ve loved for ages.

Here are some of the best.
