Lakers Rumors: The best fits for Isaiah Thomas this offseason
By Jason Reed
Isaiah Thomas is one of several expiring contracts on the Lakers heading into the summer. According to the latest Lakers rumors, where are the best fits for Thomas?
Isaiah Thomas will not play another game for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018.
Unless he re-signs with the team this summer.
Thomas opted to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right hip, ending his 2017-2018 season. The timetable to return is four months, giving Thomas plenty of time to recover for the start of the 2018-2019 season in October. The surgery was, in simple medical terms, to clean up his right hip that he initially injured with the Celtics.
Isaiah Thomas’ play should not be too affected by this surgery, in fact, with six full months to recover Thomas should be back to perfect condition come October.
Thus, Thomas becomes one of the most intriguing options on the free agent market. At his best, Thomas was a legitimate MVP candidate and the king of the fourth quarter. Now, after a year in which he probably rushed back from injury, Thomas’ height and ability are in question as well as his ability to play alongside other star teammates.
Still, the tremendous upside is there. Thomas is perhaps the biggest wild card of free agency. Will he get the star money he wants? Probably not. But it is really hard to pinpoint exactly what teams will offer him this summer.
Thus, with the NBA season coming to a close, we decided to find the best early fits for Isaiah Thomas.
