Lakers Rumors: The best fits for Isaiah Thomas this offseason
By Jason Reed
1. Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are a lot better than anyone would have expected. After trading Paul George, the Pacers seemed to be entering full rebuilding mode. The team was concerned with tampering fines towards the Los Angeles Lakers; seemingly taking a lesser package for George in the process.
At the time, Victor Oladipo and his massive contract and Domantas Sabonis did not seem to be a fair trade-off for George. Instead, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson seemed to be a more worthwhile trade package.
As good as Randle as Clarkson are, boy was that wrong.
Victor Oladipo has been nothing short of sensational for the Pacers; arguably being better than George has been this season. The Pacers are now in a situation to build a contender around Oladipo, starting with Isaiah Thomas.
A fully healthy Thomas and Oladipo would present a vicious scoring backcourt that would put up a lot of points on a nightly basis. The defense would not be great, sure, but Oladipo could use another star in the starting lineup.
Thomas, Oladipo and Myles Turner would serve as a dangerous trio in the Eastern Conference. Although the Pacers do not have superstar money to pay Thomas, they do have an interesting dynamic to offer.
