Trade two (More impactful):

This trade is more impactful than the first trade on this list but it also has a few moving parts that would need to happen in order for this to work.

The biggest hurdle that both sides would need to overcome is getting Isaiah Thomas under contract. Thomas is currently and free agent and the two sides would need to agree to a sign-and-trade deal of some sorts.

Thomas, who may be appreciative of his time in LA, may do this for the Lakers to ensure that he gets a better payday. If Thomas were to hit the open market asking the Pacers for the same amount it would not work. However, if he signs the contract then gets traded, space opens for such request.

In this case, we have Thomas agreeing to a $12 million annually deal. Jefferson, who is coming to the Lakers, will be a free agent after next season and is owed just under $10 million.

This would be a good move for the Lakers to add depth in the frontcourt. Although it was the contrary on the previous trade, this move would entail that the Lakers signed Paul Goerge to play shooting guard and drafted a guard as well.

Jefferson would provide a veteran presence to the Lakers while only being a one-year commitment, opening the Lakers up to bring in another star in 2019. On the other hand, the Indiana Pacers would be getting the star alongside Victor Oladipo that could help the team challenge the Eastern Conference’selitee.

Throw in a pick swap in which the Lakers move up three spots (as of now) and this trade is great for both sides.
