Lakers: Five positive things to take from the 2017-2018 season

The 2017-2018 NBA season is coming to a close and will mark the fifth consecutive year that the Lakers missed the playoffs. However, there are still plenty of positives for LA to take from this season.
The 2017-2018 was good, not great, for the Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles definitely took a step in the right direction under the leadership of Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka. In what was the duos’ first full season running the team, the Lakers were able to improve off a poor four-year stretch.
Despite the improvements, though, the Lakers missed the NBA Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season, as many missed playoffs as the entirety of the franchise before this stretch. The Lakers even bested the 33-win total that ESPN projected them to have prior to the season. Los Angeles is 34-45 with three games remaining on the season.
The future of the Lakers is bright. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding who the next superstar of Los Angeles will be. Even without any potential superstar acquisitions, the Lakers have established a great foundation of young talent that mirrors the Philadelphia 76ers.
Although the Lakers did not get the eighth-seed like some may have anticipated, there was plenty of positive things to take away from the 2017-2018 season. As you prepare for a summer without basketball, here are five things to remember from the 2017-2018 season.
