LA Rams: Way-too-early skill position projections for the 2018 season
By Jason Reed
The LA Rams were an offensive juggernaut in the 2017 season. With a very similar group of guys, the Rams will likely repeat the feat in 2018.
The LA Rams were one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the 2017 season. Brand new head coach, Sean McVay, led a young group of guys to a complete turnaround to make the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.
McVay, who is often referred to as a quarterback whisperer, completely flipped the script from Jeff Fisher’s inefficient offensive in Los Angeles. Under the guidance of McVay and with plenty of new weapons at this disposal, second-year quarterback, Jared Goff, was able to get rid of any “draft bust” discussions that were going on.
That, of course, was also aided by the resurgence of Todd Gurley as the best running back in the NFL. Gurley won the Offensive Player of the Year Award after rushing for 1305 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 788 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
Overall, the Rams offense led the NFL in total points scored and was tenth in the league in total yardage.
Entering 2018, the LA Rams have a completely different outlook. The team went from a young, inexperienced team to a powerhouse with multiple new superstars. However, only one new star, Brandin Cooks, is on the offensive side of the ball.
But, the team is young and they will only get better. With a better defense, the offense will have more time on the field. With more experience, the LA Rams are set up for an even better offensive season.
Here are our statistical projections for each skill position (Quarterback, running back, receivers and tight end) for the 2018 season.
