Lakers Rumors: Four teams that could compete for Julius Randle
By Jason Reed
Julius Randle potential landing spot: Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are essentially the Eastern Conference version of the Utah Jazz this season. Both have a great, young big man. Utah has Rody Gobert and Indiana has Myles Turner; the advantage goes to Gobert. However, they both also have breakout shooting guards that have led the team out of the trenches.
The Jazz have rookie sensational Donovan Mitchell while the Pacers have the most improved player of the season in Victor Oladipo. Oladipo has given Pacer fans a flashback to the Paul George days and is arguably a better shooting guard than George.
Oladipo has led the Pacers to a better record than George did and has already accomplished something that the team could not do last year; beat the Cavaliers in the playoffs. While there is still a lot of series left to play and LeBron will do LeBron things, the sky is the limit for this young Pacers team.
Indiana is not an intriguing market to bring in any superstars and the team already has their star in Oladipo. Instead of chasing these elite tier stars, they can look for complementary pieces that will only grow alongside this young unit.
Julius Randle is the perfect option for that. Much like with the Jazz, the size and shot blocking ability of Turner would mesh perfectly with Randle down low. Add in a stone cold scorer in Oladipo and the Pacers could threaten for the top seed in the Eastern Conference as early as next season.
